Corvette Racing swept the sports car championship series of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) in 2020, taking the Manufacturers, Drivers & Team titles in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class. It was also the inaugural season that the mid-engine Corvette C8.R took part in.

To commemorate this, the 2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition will be available in NJ in very limited quantities. In fact, only 1,000 units will be produced for left-hand drive markets like ours.

What Makes the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition Special

You can see the resemblance to the No. 3 and No. 4 Corvette C8.R race cars in the Chevy Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. In fact, each model will come with Corvette Racing-themed graphics packages, with Accelerate Yellow No. 3 editions featuring gray graphics and Hypersonic Gray No. 4 editions including yellow accents.

The inclusion of a few other exterior exclusives will vary by market and consist of:

• Carbon Flash high-wing spoiler & outside mirrors
• Yellow brake calipers
• Black Trident design wheels with the “Jake” logo on the center caps & black lug nuts
• Black side rockers
• Splash guards

The interior of this special-edition sports car offers a Strike Yellow & Sky Cool Gray color scheme that mimics the yellow & gray racing theme of the exterior. It contains these exclusive features:

• GT2 seats, with Competition Sport seating being available
• Yellow seat belts
• C8.R Special Edition numbered plaque
• Custom-fitted indoor car cover paying homage to the No. 3 or No. 4 Corvette C8.R race car, depending on the model’s color & graphic scheme

What Else is New For the 2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray

Besides the introduction of the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition, the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray also has a few changes made from its predecessor. The first is the addition of a new low-profile rear spoiler & Z51 design front splitter being offered on non-Z51 models for a sportier appearance.

If you opt for the Corvette Stingray LT2, you'll get an enhanced 6.2L V8 for 2022 that still delivers 490 hp or 495 hp with the optional performance exhaust system while letting you go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds with the Z51 Performance Package. This engine now offers an improved upgraded direct injection fuel system, better calibration & a superior Active Fuel Management range.

Last but not least, you can now personalize your Corvette Stingray even more with the addition of 3 exterior color choices. Those options are comprised of Caffeine, Amplify Orange Tintcoat and the aforementioned Hypersonic Gray.
